Now TMZ is reporting that their sources have revealed producers thought Cheryl’s accent was too strong for the
public to understand. On top of that, they also suggest that there was little chemistry with other female judge Paula Abdul.
Their sources also mentioned that the shows producers want Cheryl to return to the British version of the show, but Cheryl is allegedly so distraught that she’s fed up with both shows!
Now that Nicole has taken Cheryl’s seat, her hosting duties will not be replaced. Steve Jones will now become the host of the show.
TMZ is still waiting for a reply from Simon Cowell’s reps.
TMZ broke news this afternoon that Simon Cowell has replaced Cheryl Cole with former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Sherzinger. Nicole, who was already apart of the show, was originally supposed to co-host the show along with Brit Steve Jones.
Huge shakeup at Simon Cowell‘s new show “X-Factor” — TMZ has learned singer Cheryl Cole will no longer be a judge … and will be replaced by ex-”Pussycat Dolls” member Nicole Scherzinger.
It’s unclear why Cheryl is out — but we’re told the replacement happened very recently.
Nicole was originally supposed to co-host the show with Steve Jones when it debuts in September — but now, she’ll be sitting on the judge’s panel alongside Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and LA Reid.
I was wondering why they picked LA Reid to be apart of the judging panel – now it all makes sense. Reports of a meaner than Cowell judge have been making it’s rounds after the first day of auditions ended.
Judges’ round tryouts for Fox’s new singing competition show got under way Sunday afternoon at USC’s Galen Center in Los Angeles, with the second auditioner of the day, a 52-year-old divorcee. It didn’t go well.
She first sang Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings,” which judge Paula Adbul interrupted to ask if she could perform another song.
The woman then launched into Martina McBride’s”Independence Day” — after debating with Cowell, who thought she should sing Mariah Carey’s “Hero” — before asking if she could start over because the music was too loud. The audience, who had been encouraged by Cowell before auditions started to express their opinions about the auditioners, started booing and yelling “next!”
She then said she would sing “Hero” but instead switched back to “Independence Day.”
“I’d finish one,” Abdul told her. “You’ve got 10 seconds, pick the song you want.”
The audience started counting back from 10 and then booed throughout her entire performance.
The aspiring singer prompted harsh criticism, especially from Reid.
“When was the last time you performed? Eighteen years ago?” Reid asked. “Whatever made you stop then, you should’ve stuck with that decision.”
After much speculation, Paula Abdul has been confirmed as the fourth and final judge on the upcoming X Factor.
“This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can’t believe I am saying this – I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show,” said Simon Cowell.
“I am excited beyond words to be a part of THE X FACTOR. I couldn’t be happier to bring my love for cultivating talent and performance to such a wildly anticipated show,” said Paula Abdul. “I’m looking forward to being back with the FOX/FremantleMedia family and know that it will be an extraordinary journey — we’re going to have a blast. I’m also delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again…but you might want to check back with me in a week or two!”
“Paula is not only the lovely, nurturing person that America fell in love with, but she’s also one of the fiercest competitors I’ve ever seen — which makes her a perfect fit to judge THE X FACTOR,” said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Paula and Simon have undeniable chemistry, and together with L.A. Reid and Cheryl Cole, I think we’ve put together an incredibly entertaining judges’ panel.”
After months of speculation, Cheryl Cole has been confirmed as the first female judge on the US version of the X Factor.
Cheryl’s Statement:
“I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of ‘The X Factor.’ I absolutely love it here in the U.K., and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special. I can’t wait to get started. I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He’s tried to beat me for three years in the U.K., and hasn’t even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this.”
After months of speculation, Simon Cowell has confirmed that the judges will be confirmed on Friday. Many rumors have been going around from Jessica Simpson, Mariah Carey and even former X Factor UK judge, Cheryl Cole.
The official panel for The X Factor USA will be revealed later this week, Simon Cowell has confirmed. The American talent contest which is due to air on Fox this autumn has prompted much speculation over here with UK judge Cheryl Cole remaining one of the firm favourites to get the job despite her weak credentials and the fact that she’s pretty unknown over there. other names mentioned for roles on the judging panel have been Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Rowland.
Speaking at the launch of his new ITV1 gameshow Red Or Black, Simon confirmed that the lineup would have to be confirmed by the end of the week so filming for auditions could commence. So far, only Simon and Antonio ”L.A.” Reid have been confirmed as judges in the press with two slots available both expected to be filled by female judges. Should Cheryl get the role, it will mean two brand new judges for the UK X Factor which will begin filming for auditions infront of the judges in May/June.
When asked about the panel, Simon said: ”I can’t confirm the lineup. I’ll be [filming] on Friday, so at the moment it will be just me.”After his statement prompted queries as to whether they would have to confirm judges by the end of the week, Cowell confirmed: ”We have to…yes.” The show has attracted much interest from hopefuls who are all attracted by the massive $5 million prize.
Cowell added: ”We’re all up for this. We’re all hyped up. We want to make ‘big event’ talked about shows. I think things have got a bit drab and boring. The X Factor and Red Or Black will be something for you to write about and for people to get excited about. That’s what we do. We’re going to give it a go. And as a British company, we’re very excited about taking these shows all around the world.” TellyMix
After Idol’s Thia Megia was eliminated this past week, many questions have been surrounding her about song choice (or lack of)… but how much is Thia to blame as it is Idol’s format? Zap2It and People Magazine spoke to Thia about her lack of upbeat songs, and which songs she would have liked to sing on the show.
Here’s what she had to say.
Zap2It: On whether she should’ve chosen more upbeat songs:
“I do regret not choosing more upbeat songs, but the last performance I did, I don’t regret at all. I dedicated that to my brother and I poured all the emotion I had inside of me into that song and I don’t regret doing it at all. For the previous weeks, I wish I would’ve done more upbeat songs because I don’t want to come off as just a ballad singer, which I probably did. I just hope America knows I can do so much more … I actually wanted to sing ‘Chasing Pavements’ by Adele. I sang it for my audition, but I never actually got to sing a 90-second version on the show. I would have loved, loved, loved to sing that.”
People: What would you have loved to sing that you didn’t get to? I didn’t get to sing as much up beat songs like Adele songs, Jason Mraz. I was thinking about doing some Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars would be cool, too. I’m not just a ballad singer. But the last performance that I did on the show I don’t regret because it was a beautiful song and I was singing to my big brother and I’m so proud. I am really happy about my last performance on the show.
In reality, how much of a finger can truly be pointed at her for lack of song choice? They’re given artists and genres that are 20+ years before their time. Sure, it’s very easy to argue that the other contestants may have taken the song and “made it their own” but how many current artists are on the radio singing recycled Elton John or Motown hits? None.
I’m all for a theme, but having them sing something 20 years their senior is getting a bit tiresome, and it can be attributed to Thia (and others in the past) leaving the competition prematurely.
A new singing competition is coming to Global titled Canada Sings. Similar to The Sing Off, Canadian companies came up with their own ‘glee club’ to compete live on stage for a charity of their choice.
Twelve clubs have been chosen from companies like Air Canada, Hamilton Police, and The Keg.
Two company clubs will face-off each episode in front of the judges and an audience, where the winning team will be awared $10,000 for their charity.
The show will be hosted by former MuchMusic VJ and current ET Canada host, Matt Babel. The show is planning to be filmed next week but no airdate has been set.
