Fallen Idol: An Interview With Tim Urban
The only good thing about this interview is A) the interviewer and B) it means Tim isn’t on the show anymore. We never liked him and was never sure why he was there. Anyway, here it is.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Tim, I have to say I loved you and I’m sorry you’re gone.
TIM URBAN: Thanks. I love you too.Millions of teenage girls just died inside. So now that you’re off the show is it a relief at all that you won’t be berated every week on live television?
Yes, there is a little bit of relief because of that. It’s nice because going forward I get to perform for people but I don’t have to sit afterwards and listen to criticism.Way back when, when you didn’t even make it to the top 24, were you devastated?
It was one of those things that I didn’t have an expectation for how far I would make it. I kept making it through rounds at Hollywood week and going, ‘Wow. I made it.’ So when I went home I just thought it’s time to get back to normal life. And then I got the call. It’s been such a crazy ride.
Christina Aguilera To Be On Idol Finale!
Oooo! I’m excited! Love her.
On the heels of visits from Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus, American Idol is welcoming yet another diva to this show this year: Christina Aguilera. The singer revealed yesterday during a radio interview that she’ll appear on the show’s season finale on May 26, according to MTV, although Fox would not confirm the report. There are scant few details beyond the fact that she’ll be singing and that her visit is, conveniently, just a week before she drops her new album,Bionic, on June 8. The first single from the album, “Not Myself Tonight,” has already hit the ‘net, but it leaves something to be desired. Hopefully her next, and better, single will be out in time for her to perform on Idol.
Idol: Andrew and Katie discuss song choice, ‘having fun,’ and prom dates!

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Andrew, talk to me. What’s your depression level?
ANDREW GARCIA: My depression level is none. I mean, you feel bad ’cause you’re leaving performing on that big stage, but you can’t forget how far you came. I didn’t expect to go far, and to go as far as I did I’m thankful. And I made the tour and I’m going to be able to go out and have a job. And then I get to see my son.Was he too young to appreciate that you were on American Idol?
Yeah, he just knew when it came on TV. He’d say, “Idol! Idol! Idol!”When you sang “Hound Dog” this week, did you know you were in trouble?
I went out and I had fun. The crowd was amazing. I had fun. I felt good singing, I loved the arrangement. I wouldn’t change it.

Adam Lambert will serve as guest mentor on the April 13 episode of American Idol, a spokesperson for 19 Entertainment confirms exclusively to EW. Internet buzz began swirling this afternoon that Sony Music reps had contacted selected radio stations with the announcement that last year’s runner-up would advise season 9’s Top 8 contestants, and then perform his current single “Whattaya Want From Me” on the April 14 results-show telecast. There’s no official word yet on what theme the contestants will tackle during Lambert’s visit.
Man Claims He’s Casey James’ Boyfriend
Well well, some sort of ‘gay’ scandal had to happen, eh? He seems pretty freakin’ smitten with Kara though. Plus, let’s not forget that Casey was previously married (to a woman) for however many years. Maybe he bats for both teams? Who cares. Onto the goods…
It took three months into American Idol 9 for the season’s first gay rumor to surface, and it involves Casey James, the 27-year-old divorced, guitar-playing finalist who took off his shirt while auditioning and who was the focus of Kara DioGuardi’s affections for a significant period of time.
Vote for the Worst has posted a photo of Casey with someone identified as Gino, who posted a comment on Facebook suggesting (or perhaps joking?) that Casey is his boyfriend—or at least was in February. A commenter asked, “Is this ur new boyfriend???” and Gino replied, “Yes thats Casey” after someone else pointed out that “That’s Casey from American Idol.”

I’m glad she was kicked off. She was way too whiny and was trying to be candid about something we weren’t impervious to – thus, I think she was voted off. Yes, I don’t think her vocals are what did her in, more so her attitude.
Listen, girl, we know that it’s hard but apparently keeping it all in isn’t working. There are millions of people willing to be your support system because they absolutely adore you. Don’t shut them out. Open up and your vocals will too. Laugh, cry, whatever – you’re human. Hope you can get out there and get some stuff figured out. Sincerely, TBBF.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So, here we are. I can honestly say I didn’t think you’d be the one voted off after Tuesday night. What do you think happened?
DIDI BENAMI: I don’t know. America voted. [Laughs] I know that I gave it my all during every performance. I will say that. I won’t say that Tuesday was my best performance, and I definitely wanted to come back with Beatles week, but it’s okay. This is a great platform for me, and I get to go on tour and do a record – which, eventually, it’s going to happen. I’m excited about all these things. And I get a little bit of time in between to rest, which is really nice. That’s what I was counting on, ”Well, at least I can just sleep at some point.” It’s been a really amazing experience, and I’m content. I would have liked to make it further, but, you know, life happens.

Why does DeWyze think his performance was one Simon told him would change his life?
“I just felt it a lot more up there tonight than I usually do,” DeWyze said. “The crowd just got more involved and I just got into it and once in the middle of the song, the point of no return, I just hit that note and let it go and it went really well and I’m glad that it went that way.”What did Andrew Garcia tell Siobhan Magnus when he comforted her backstage after her performance of “Through the Fire”?
“When I came back,” Magnus said, “Andrew said, ‘I know what that’s like. I’ve been there for three weeks.’ It’s good to have everybody [there] because we really have become a family in and amongst ourselves. When we see one of us upset, all we want to do is be there with that person.”Was Crystal Bowersox singing to someone in particular in the audience?
“Yes, my boyfriend and better half, Tony,” Bowersox said. “It helps that he stood up so I could actually see him and everything else disappeared.” In regard to her stilettos, she added, “And he liked the heels, they were nice, but not all the time!”
Fallen Idol: Interview with Paige Miles
I actually feel bad for her. She had a great voice pre-laryngitis. Too bad. But girl… everyone knows not to sing Mariah, Celine or Whitney!
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Hi, Paige. How are you doing?
PAIGE MILES: Pretty good. How are you?Good. Sorry to hear you’re so sick. You don’t sound too good.
Oh, it’s just laryngitis, and after all these interviews it’s getting worse. I’ve been struggling with it for a couple of weeks now.Did that have a big effect on your ”Against All Odds” performance on Tuesday?
I was struggling vocally with it. There were things I wanted to do with it that I couldn’t so I was trying to find a different way to sing it. When you’re used to singing one way and your vocal cords aren’t letting you do that, it’s tough. I really struggled with the song.
NBC refuses to let Conan O’Brien appear on Idol Gives Back
And people continue to shit on Jay? Let’s get the facts straight – the only bad people here is NBC. Poor Conan. He would have been a huge asset. But really, it’s time that NBC stops holding Jay & Conan hostage. It’s really fucking sad that they cannot even let him participate in a CHARITY EVENT. Article.
Conan O’Brien won’t appear on American Idol 9’s Idol Gives Back special in about a month because NBC won’t let him.
In a story about Conan’s discussions with Fox about hosting a late-night show on the network,The Hollywood Reporter says that “O’Brien has been approached to take part in Fox’s ‘Idol Gives Back’ special April 21” and that “the invitation to O’Brien came not from Fox but from ‘American Idol’ producer 19 Entertainment.”
But the paper says that “invitation was taken to NBC to determine whether that network would allow it under its settlement with the talk show host. The answer was no, as the moratorium on any TV appearances by O’Brien doesn’t expire until May 1.”
So, the network that screwed him and dumped him in favor of that not-at-all-funny hack Jay Leno is now preventing him from participating in a charity event on a competing network. I understand the contractual prohibition, and that Idol Gives Back isn’t exactly a telethon—it’s an episode that Fox wants to draw as many viewers to as possible—but this still seems very déclassé.
