Celebrity Big Brother

Celebrity Big Brother says it all. It is a spin off of the UK’s Big Brother hit. A group of celebrities enter the Big Brother UK house for just around two weeks, competing in daily tasks to win a shopping budget. While the house mates nominate their fellow cast to be up for eviction, it is ultimately the public that decides who stays and who goes.

The first season started in 2001, but CBB has had it’s up’s and down’s. In 2008, the format was changed for one season. Instead the cast would be young adults and celebrities would come into the house, or speak via a P.A system to the house mates each day. The celebrities would instruct the house to do their daily task. This series was called Celebrity Hijack.

January 2010 will be the final Celebrity Big Brother series on C4.

In A Nutshell:

• Since the first airing in 2001, 56 celebrities have served as housemates.
• CBB5 was the longest series, at 26 days in length. This was a huge jump from the CBB1 as the season was just 8 days long.
• Jade Goody received the biggest percentage of votes to evict in CBB5, with a huge 82% of the public vote
• Over all of the series, 5 celebrities have voluntarily left the BB House, including 3 walking out in CBB5!
• On average, CBB6 is the least watched CBB of all. Yet, still managed to give C4 their biggest rating for 2009 with over 6million viewers.
• CBB7 is expected to have the highest payed celebrities as well as have them in the house the longest.
