Power Rankings: Pre-Season

Hey guys, so it’s that time of year again! We have our house, our cast, and so far everything looks really promising! For the entire summer you can read my power rankings here, as well as my general posts over at my personal blog.

To start, I’m giving ever houseguest 30 points because I’m incredibly generous. Today I’m ranking them on first impressions, and how I feel they’ll fair in the house. At the end I’ll also select my  two favorites for the summer, and some wild card houseguests to watch. And so, we begin!

Ashley Iocco

Ashley is the pretty average. She owns her own tanning business, and she seems like a free spirit. Her strategy is to make people think she’s the dumb blonde, but really be super smart secretly (Like Matt from BB12?). Overall Nothing really makes her stand out, and for that she gets zero points added or subtracted.

Danielle Murphree

Danielle is someone I’m really excited to watch. Her plan is to try and to avoid becoming a target, and I think if done right will work very well. However, the danger of trying this is you might be interpreted as someone not really playing the game. Overall, Im going to give her 10 points. 5 for being likable, and 5 for having a decent strategy as of now.

Frank Eudy

Frank is this seasons “laid back surfer type” I think. Frank wants to form a mega alliance with all these different types of people, and I think thats going to backfire on him (Keith’s Angels anyone?).  Something about him just rubs me the wrong way, so I’m going to take away 5 points for that, but I’m leaving him neutral for potential because his alliance idea could actually work out. Overall, he looses 5 points.

Ian Terry

Ian is another houseguest I like off the bat. He’s a college student, at Tulane. He’s this seasons nerdy guy. I think if he can connect with the group as a whole, he could succeed long term. He’s going to be the brains of any operation he’s part of, and that’s also going to help him in the long term. Overall I’m going to give the kid  10 points.

Jenn Arroyo

Jenn is the rocker/tattooed chick for this season. I think she’s going to be a really fun character, but that necessarily doesn’t translate into an ability to stay in the game. She might even be targeted for being a little different than everyone. She scores a 5 for personality, but I won’t give her points for gameplay leaving her with a gain of 5.

Jodi Rollins

Jodi is this season’s mother figure. I’m excited to see how she’ll do. Nothing really stands out about her to me. Ultimately I’m giving her a 5 for likability (everyone likes the mother figure) and a 5 for her chances in the house. Nobody will see her as a huge threat, and she’ll be guaranteed a few weeks in the house. Overall, she gains 10.

Joe Arvin

He’s a chef. He’ll do all the cooking, and that’s about all you need to know. He earns 5, since he’ll just cook for everyone. I don’t know how well this will help him strategy wise, but I feel like he’ll be part of an alliance. Im going to go ahead and give him 5 for gameplay because I feel like he’ll secure himself a safe spot in the house. Overall, he gains 10.

Jojo Spatafora

Jojo screams JEN JOHNSON to me. Or even a little Laura from BB11. I think she’ll be a force to be reckoned with, however I think she’s going to lack in the social game department. I really see her being in more than a few fights as well. I’m going to take away 5 for Likability, but I’m going to give her a 5 for gameplay, leaving Jojo with a net gain of zero.

Kara Monaco

Kara is the model this year. I have to say, she’s the only one I’ve seen a video interview of, and she seems really sweet and like somebody who gets along with most people. I sense she and Jojo are either going to be best friends, or worst enemies. I really hope it’s the latter of those too. I’m going to give her 5′s for gameplay, and like ability right now.

Shane Meaney

Shane at first was kind of a wild card for me, but I sense that he’s incredibly driven. He seems like a good, semi-country guy, and I think everyone is going to love him. I don’t think he’s driven strategically though. I’m giving him a 5, since everyone will probably like him, but im not giving him any points for gameplay as of now.

Wil Heuser

Will right now is someone I’ve heard a lot of people talking about, and he’s really polarizing(Just go look here at his youtube). I think he might rub some people the wrong way, but I also think he might be loved by some others. His strategy is to be “Mr. Nice Guy” so people trust him, and I think that could work. I think it’ll be interesting to see if he can play it in the house. With that, I’ll give him a 5 point gain total. Half from being a decent human, and the other 2.5 for at least having a workable strategy.

Willie Hantz

When I saw ANOTHER Hantz, i just kind of let out this sigh of agony. What did Big Brother ever do to America (besides Rachel Reilly) to deserve this punishment. I feel like his strategy of causing confusion, in combination with his pretty blunt personality make for a bad mix. I think the house will either be his puppets, or they’ll be fighting tooth and nail to do him in. I’m taking away 5 for likability, and Im leaving him neutral for strategy. Overall, he loses 5.

My Personal Picks

The two people I think will fair the best in the house are Danielle, and Shane are the two people to watch this year. I’m awarding them each an additional 10 points for this.

Wild Cards

A lot is uncertain, but Im awarding 5 points to Kara, Ian, and Wil. I think they have a lot going for them, and I think they each have a good shot at doing well.

The Ranking

Danielle – 50 Points(+20)
Ian – 45 Points(+15)
Kara – 45 Points(+15)
Shane – 45 Points(+15)

I also think Shane will be one to watch. His hardest task will be how to not be seen as a threat by the other men, and more importantly, the mentors! They will have him on their radar INSTANTLY.

Joe creeps me out and would love to see him go first.
