Idol: Answers To Last Nights Burning Questions

Cynthia Wang of People magazine found out all the answers to the Top 10′s burning questions last night.

Why did Lee think that this was his life changing performance? What did Andrew tell Siobhan during her backstage segment? Who was Crystal singing to last night? What’s Aaron’s nickname ? Who was Didi singing to (like we didn’t know) AND MORE!

Why does DeWyze think his performance was one Simon told him would change his life?
“I just felt it a lot more up there tonight than I usually do,” DeWyze said. “The crowd just got more involved and I just got into it and once in the middle of the song, the point of no return, I just hit that note and let it go and it went really well and I’m glad that it went that way.”

What did Andrew Garcia tell Siobhan Magnus when he comforted her backstage after her performance of “Through the Fire”?
“When I came back,” Magnus said, “Andrew said, ‘I know what that’s like. I’ve been there for three weeks.’ It’s good to have everybody [there] because we really have become a family in and amongst ourselves. When we see one of us upset, all we want to do is be there with that person.”

Was Crystal Bowersox singing to someone in particular in the audience?
“Yes, my boyfriend and better half, Tony,” Bowersox said. “It helps that he stood up so I could actually see him and everything else disappeared.” In regard to her stilettos, she added, “And he liked the heels, they were nice, but not all the time!”

Did Tim Urban know about the drinking game Ellen DeGeneres mentioned? (She said people drink every time she calls him “adorable.”)
“I’m surprised by the drinking game, and I’m a little excited,” Urban admitted. Michael Lynche interrupted to say of the 19-year-old, “He’s underage! He doesn’t even know nothing about drinking!” Urban laughed and said, “Obviously I won’t be participating in a drinking game, but it’s funny!

To whom did Didi Benami dedicate “What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted”?
Benami was singing for her friend Rebecca Joy Lear, who died in a car accident 11 days before Christmas in 2005. “I didn’t want to start crying onstage,” Benami said, “and that’s why I didn’t want to answer my question either. I was like, I’m going to start bawling, crying, or I’m just going to stand there and say something funny to avoid crying onstage.”

What did Andrew Garcia think of Simon questioning whether he has a personality?
“That’s ’cause [Simon] doesn’t know me,” Garcia said. Urban said, “He’s really funny. He’s really very funny.” Garcia replied, “Yeah! Remember that, Simon!”

Is Casey James aware of the audience and judges when he is on stage?
“I do my thing and I’m so happy when I’m done, then I almost catch myself like, I’m so happy, I don’t realize what’s gone on,” James said. “I have to listen to the crowd to know whether it’s good or bad.”

Didi’s mom can’t watch her perform — is she hanging out with Katie Stevens’ dad during the show?
“I just want to say for the record, my dad says I’ve thrown him under the bus in front of everybody in the world,” Stevens said. “To clarify, my father goes to a nice café that may have a bar there, he may have one drink, just one. May dad is not alcoholic! And he sits there and reads his text messages from a friend back home who says, ‘Ooh, Katie’s standing over there, ooh Katie’s going over to the judges, ooh, Katie’s going back!’ Just giving him play by play.”

What was it like for Michael Lynche to play with his back to the judges?
“I don’t mind having my back to them because I was so into the song I wasn’t really cognizant of what was around me at that particular point,” he said. “I don’t look at them.”

So Aaron Kelly has a nickname?
When the 16-year-old answered a question about performing with a considered response, the guys around him started to mimic Star Wars sound effects. Lynche said, “Sorry! We call Aaron ‘Yoda.’” Urban explained, “Sometimes he comes up with smart remarks and when he does it’s wise, just like Yoda.” Lee DeWyze added, “He’s like the guy who doesn’t say anything but when he says something, everybody listens!”
