EW Asks Randy Some Questions!

And here’s EntertainmentWeekly’s interview with Randy!! It’s not that bad, if you can stand Randy (which.. I can’t) but I still felt bad for the guy. Anyway… Here it is! Don’t forget to head to EW to see a deleted scene from last night!

When we spoke before the game, you were confident you would win, yet you ended up being the very first one voted off your tribe. What did you in? Was it your lack of physical strength or your inability to socially integrate with your tribemates?
I would have to say the social integration. Not that I am socially inept, because despite the edit I actually can put two sentences together. My downfall was definitely more social than physical. I could just not connect with the young girls.

We saw you talking about Parvati and how it was going to be Micronesia 2.0 once she met up with James and Amanda and Cirie. What’s interesting to me about this is that before the game, that’s all the other players could talk about. They were really worried about that happening, yet still didn’t want to cut her loose. Why didn’t they pull the trigger?
Russell. And then Rob finally flipped, too. Russell had an alliance with Parvati since day one and he wasn’t gonna let that get screwed up. And Boston Rob and I just kinda clashed. He’s tough to work with. I let him have his way all the time. He’s good at challenges and he’s good at puzzles, but these puzzles are like 6 pieces to put together. I think there are other people that are capable. And Boston Rob doesn’t see it that way. He claims to have played this game 3 times and every time he’s on what he called “the buffoon tribe.” The common denominator in all three tribes is him! I think he might want to think about that a little bit.

Did they tell you that you were going home?

Jeff’s Episode 3 Blog!

Oh Jeff, how we love thee. This week, he talks a little more about the James drama, Jeri vs Pav, Russell, mud wrestling, and how he thinks the vote was right… HERE WE GO!

PREVIOUSLY ON… SURVIVOR

When last I left you…James appeared to be in the beginning stages of losing his mind. Last week’s tribal council ended with the very ugly and unnecessary comment from James to Stephenie: “Shut your mouth.”

Ah, so lovely.

Look, I’ve been a big fan of James from day one. I voted for him to be on Fans vs. Favorites and I voted for him to be on Heroes vs. Villains and up until this season I would have referred to him with affectionate phrases like “James the Gentle Giant.” Yeah… those days are gone.

I don’t know if James was going through something personal like trying to quit smoking or if he had a bad rash nobody knew about but something has definitely changed.

James is just not a nice guy these days. More on that later.

SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY

Boston Rob’s strategy tip was absolutely brilliant: “I’m gonna give you the key. Watch who is sleeping with whom at night.”

Talk about insight. It’s amazing what we reveal about ourselves without realizing it.

Victor’s Blog: Episode Two!!

Okay! Only one day late this time! hahaha I’ll get it next week, I promise!  He talks about the two biggest threats… one being Jeff and Jordan. Read the full article at People.com

And just like that, Jet and Cord catapulted from currency-confusing cowboys to leaders of the pack. On Sunday, the 10 remaining teams on the sixteenth installment of The Amazing Race traveled to Puerto Varas, Chile, for the second leg of the race, where teams struggled navigating the Chilean bus system, dressing llamas or themselves as flying condors, and running around the Weisser Family Farm searching for German baking ingredients.

Once again, mistakes abounded. Jeff and Jordan ended up going to the wrong bus station; Dan and Jordan got lost as they struggled with a manual transmission; Louie andMichael drove right past the final task and ended up 19 miles out of the way; and most teams wasted a day in one bus terminal while Jeff and Jordan, Jet and Cord, and Brent andCaite slipped away after finding a better option. When all the dust settled, Jet and Cord were triumphant while Jody andShannon had to pack for Elimination Station.

Before I crown the biggest mistake, I have to give the cowboys some love. Instead of waiting around for a direct bus, they were smart enough to look for other options. Jeff and Jordan did the same thing, but the cowboys did not rest on their laurels, patting themselves on the back with their great strategic move. They kept vigilant and pulled ahead of every other team. Once they got the lead, they never looked back. Let’s be honest: who thought Jeff and Jordan and Jet and Cord would be the two biggest threats?

I love the fact that Jeff called Jordan out for not knowing how many eggs were in a baker’s dozen! Not only was it endearing, but I’ve recently realized that many otherwise smart people do not know things that most of us take for granted. Is there really such a thing as common knowledge anymore? I quizzed a group of over-achieving high school kids a few weeks ago and was shocked at some of the answers. Who was the white guy Pocahontas had a crush on? (No, not Christopher Columbus.) Who invented the light bulb? (No, not Thomas Jefferson.) Who is Chekhov? (Really? Watch season 14 again.)

Enough suspense … the award for the mistake of the week goes to Shannon! Let me explain. There is no question Jody is the world’s coolest grandmother. I don’t know many people who can handle getting kicked in the head by a cow. She carried her own weight, is not afraid to try new things and has endurance many 30-somethings would envy. As Jody put it, the roadblock proved that septuagenarians “can do physical things.” But what I don’t understand is why — since Jody and Shannon were likely in last place — did Shannon let her grandmother do that roadblock? The one thing Jody did not have was hustle. Slow and steady does not win when you’re in last place. I’m all for proving you can do it, but when you’re hoping to avoid elimination you need to scramble, unless you’ve already resigned yourself to leaving the race. I’m not saying hustling would have made a difference, or that Shannon would have done a quicker job, but it did seem like the team as a whole never understood the urgency of being in a race. If I were Shannon, I would have told my grandmother she can prove herself on the next task! And since Louie and Michael did fall into the back of the pack, hustling could very well have made a big difference. –Victor Jih

Victor Jih’s TAR Blog: Episode 1

Sorry I missed Episode one! It was posted on Wednesday and I guess I didn’t see it. :( BUT I SAW IT NOW! I’ll have episode two up as soon as possible!

“Everybody ready? All right. The world is waiting for you. Good luck. Travel safe. Go!” And with those iconic words from Phil Keoghan, the eleven teams in the sixteenth installment of The Amazing Race took off from downtown Los Angeles to LAX via public transportation. Their destination? Santiago, Chile, where cable-walking, a funicular, and colorful house-painting await. This season features a Big Brother crossover couple, a former Miss Teen USA contestant seeking redemption from national humiliation, and a 71-year-old grandmother out to prove that the oldest are not the slowest.

I said in my pre-season blog that decision-making under difficult circumstances will separate the winners from the losers. I swear I had no idea the opening leg would be so dominated by bad decisions! In a mistake-filled start to the competition, the truly endearing Big Brother pair Jeff and Jordan emerge victorious while — spoiler alert — high school sweethearts Dana and Adrian fail to complete the leg and are the first eliminated.

Stephanie’s Interview with TVGuide!

Another interview with her! She answers similar questions to EW’s article (naturally). When she’s put on the spot, she’s asked about her previous connections and if they hurt her, if she was hesitant to align with Tom, what the Heroes need to do to win, and if some Heroes are really Villains. Check it out or head to TVGuide.com

TVGuide.com: Why do you think James pointed the finger at you, more than anyone else, after the challenge?
Stephenie LaGrossa: He was yelling the whole challenge at everyone, so the moment we lost, he was cursing and looking right at me. I got defensive. It wasn’t just me talking … He just lost his stuff … Yes, I was talking during the challenge. We all were. There were moments when J.T. was supposed to be leading us through this challenge and nothing was being said. … At one point Candice stepped up and she kind of was leading the challenge. It’s good if there’s one voice but if that one voice is wrong or stumped, you have to move on to plan B. From the beginning, we never had that challenge right.

TVGuide.com: Was there conflict between you and James before the challenge?
Stephenie: James was really in tight with Amanda and J.T., and we were trying to get J.T., at least Tom and Colby were. Rupert, from day one, didn’t like me, and he was kind of in with them. I still don’t know to this day why he didn’t like me, but he told Colby he didn’t like me. I don’t know if they all stuck together and I was on the outs or what. To be honest, I’m a really outgoing person and I was really quiet this season. There were many times this season me, Tom, Colby and Cirie just kind of sat back and didn’t say anything. … It just really wasn’t a fun group of people to be around.
